Prior to watching Netflix’s Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, we knew nothing about Joe Exotic. As it turns out, we weren’t the only ones.
Miranda Lambert recently shared a series of photos on Twitter and revealed that she previously met Joe Exotic back in 2017. The kicker is the 36-year-old singer had no idea who he was at the time, but that didn’t stop Lambert from archiving the pictures, which are now worth a million words.
Fans immediately reacted to the never-before-seen pics, which prompted Lambert to explain how she crossed paths with Joe Exotic.
“Backstory: During Hurricane Harvey, the MuttNation Team went to Houston to help relocate existing shelter dogs to free up shelter space for animals separated by their owners,” she wrote. “MuttNation asked for volunteers who could transport some dogs from Houston shelters in Oklahoma, where there was room and they could be treated and adopted.”
The singer went on to say that she just recently made the connection, adding, “Some guy named Joe volunteered his trailer and staff. Now I know it’s ‘Joe Exotic.’”
Lambert also clarified that she’s never visited The Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park. “I’ve never been to his zoo, and I didn’t even know he had tigers,” she wrote. “OBVIOUSLY I’d never condone animals being treated badly.”
