Velma Dinkly, better known as the brains of the Scooby-Doo gang, is finally getting her own show, and it's all thanks to HBO Max.

The streaming service recently announced that Late Night actress Mindy Kaling will voice the lead character and serve as executive producer for the adult animated series.

On Instagram, Kaling shared a screenshot of the news and wrote, "I’m so excited to be voicing this iconic character! Velma will struggle to navigate the pitfalls of high school, her budding sexuality, and a serial killer intent on murdering every popular kid in town. Sounds epic, @charliegrandy! Can’t wait!"

According to HBO Max, the series will tell "the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and under-appreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang." It's also an "original and humorous spin that unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers."

No other cast members have been confirmed and there's still no word on a release date. However, we do know that there will be 10 episodes and that Sam Register, Charlie Grandy and Howard Klein will join Kaling as executive producers. (Fun fact: Both Grandy and Klein have worked with Kaling on NBC's The Office!)

In addition to Velma, HBO is also working on an animated remake of Fired on Mars, starring Pete Davidson, and MTV's Clone High.

We're so here for all this new HBO Max content.
