Meghan Markle Noticed a Couple Struggling to Take a Photo and Stepped in to Help

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry started off the new year with a good deed—the royal duo helped a couple take a selfie!

According to CTV News, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex went for a hike during their vacation in Canada and noticed another couple struggling to take a photo with a selfie stick.

“We’ve been doing this hike on New Year’s Day for the past two years,” Asymina Kantorowicz told CTV News Vancouver Island. “We took a little picnic out and we were finishing up and trying to get some selfies with the nice backdrop when a woman came up to us and asked if we wanted her to take our photo.” That woman? The Duchess of Sussex.

However, the 29-year-old woman (who was hiking with her boyfriend Iliya Pavlovic) didn’t originally realize who her famous photographer was. It wasn’t until she noticed another member of the group, actress (and Markle’s ex co-star) Abigail Spencer, that she realized who was taking her photo.

“I’m a Suits fan and I first noticed Abigail and then I looked up and realized it was Meghan taking the photo. Then I looked back at the group and realized Prince Harry was there too!” she said. “I couldn’t believe who it was. There was Meghan smiling at me, waiting to take the photo and it was just shock at that moment and disbelief.”

The duchess took three photos for the couple and wished them a Happy New Year before heading back to the rest of the group.

If you didn’t know, this year the royal parents opted to spend the holidays in Canada with baby Archie and Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland. And while they had their dogs with them, Archie apparently did not join the holiday hike.

What a way to start off the new decade!
