There are many parts of Magic Mike we’d like to hold on to forever (literally and figuratively). Matthew McConaughey, who played male stripper vet Dallas in the 2012 blockbuster and 2015 sequel, agrees.
The 49-year-old Oscar winner stopped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen yesterday and fielded viewer questions about his time filming the steamy movie. Spoiler alert: The questions (and his answers) weren’t 100 percent safe for work.
When asked if he stole any thongs from the set of Magic Mike (yep, it was a real question), McConaughey succinctly replied, “Absolutely.” He went on to share his rationale and explained, “That was my rattlesnake thong. No one else needed to be wearing that thong after me. That was mine.” We won’t argue with that.
So, what other burning questions did the Interstellar star get asked by WWHL fans? Well, the subject of, um, manscaping came up.
McConaughey, funnily enough, had no idea such a thing existed. Thankfully, his fellow guest and Serenity co-star Anne Hathaway asked him to guess what the term meant, and he performed a little dance that insinuated he had the slightest inkling. Ultimately, he played it close to the (Dallas leather) vest on the topic. He did share, however, that he’s Scottish-Irish (not sure what that means in relation to manscaping) and that there “were backs being shaved” on the set of Magic Mike (looking at you Joe Manganiello).
We have to say, the Magic Mike manscaping doesn’t surprise us, but the snakeskin thong? Now that’s quite the memento.
