Madonna Shares Extremely Cryptic Posts to Announce New Album, ‘Madame X’
Madonna is taking on an all-new persona for her latest album, Madame X.
The 60-year-old singer just confirmed that she’s releasing her first studio album in four years. Madonna announced the news by sharing a series of cryptic posts on her personal Instagram account.
After debuting a grid that forms the letter “X,” the artist posted a secret-agent-themed video, in which she explains the meaning behind Madame X.
“Madame X is a secret agent traveling around the world, changing identities, fighting for freedom, bringing light to dark places,” Madonna says in the clip.
The video also teases lyrics from the new album: “The thing that hurt the most is that I wasn’t lost.”
But that’s not all. Madonna went on to share a Boomerang of herself playing the guitar.
She captioned the post, “What song is Madame X playing………”
Madonna followed up with a clip of herself playing the accordion and wrote, “CHURRASCO, BOM CHIMARRÃO, FANDANGO, TRAGO E MULHER…”
The “Like a Prayer” singer concluded the posts by sharing a photo of herself and Colombian singer Maluma, along with the date April 17, 2019.
The news comes four years after Madonna released her 13th studio album, Rebel Heart. Previous albums include MDNA, Hard Candy, Confessions on a Dance Floor, American Life, Music, Ray of Light, Bedtime Stories, Erotica, Like a Prayer, True Blue, Like a Virgin and Madonna.
So yeah, it’s about damn time.
