Exclusive: Laverne Cox Reveals How to Make the Ultimate Rainbow Olive Martini in Honor of Pride Month

rainbow lgbtini recipe

Leave it to Laverne Cox to shout from the literal rooftops: Pride Month is here! (If you haven’t yet watched the “Welcome Home” campaign she shot for Smirnoff, you’ll get what we mean.)

So, what is Cox drinking this summer to celebrate the occasion and festivities? PureWow had the chance to talk with Cox exclusively and, in our chat, she spilled the details on her go-to cocktail. (Truth be told, it’s one we can’t wait to recreate.)

“It’s called the LGBTini!” she laughed, acknowledging the cheeky nod to Pride. “It’s just a martini with Smirnoff and Vermouth and rainbow olives.”

But that’s the kicker: You’ll need to pick up edible glitter to make the olives. “You can get edible glitter and dip the olives in the colors of the rainbow,” she says. “Then, just put it on your martini and, boom, you have an LGBTini. It’s so simple, but a really fun way to celebrate.”

As for where you can find edible glitter? It looks like Layer Cake Shop sells a ton of the stuff, in a variety of color options, too.

The full recipe is below. Thanks, Laverne!

How to Make the LGBTini

  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • 0.25 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 5 green olives (dipped in rainbow edible glitter)

Combine vodka and vermouth in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with olives that have been dipped in edible rainbow glitter and placed on a cocktail pick. Sip and enjoy!
