Lauren Graham Is Returning to the Small Screen in a New Musical Dramedy

Gilmore Girls alum Lauren Graham is returning to the small screen in an all-new series that has nothing to do with Stars Hollow.

The 52-year-old actress is set to star in a musical dramedy called Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, according to E! News. Graham will replace Carmen Cusack (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood), who starred as Zoey’s boss, Joan, in the show’s pilot.

While we don’t know much else about the role, we have no doubt Graham will bring her fast-paced dialogue skills to the NBC series. (Closed captioning, here we come.)

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will follow the titular character, Zoey (duh), a computer programmer who realizes she can low-key read people’s minds. The catch? Her subjects’ desires are translated through song and dance.

In addition to Graham, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist will feature an all-star cast, including Jane Levy (What/If), Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Alex Newell (Glee), Mary Steenburgen (Last Man on Earth), Peter Gallagher (Law & Order: SVU), John Clarence Stewart (Luke Cage) and Andrew Leeds (Barry). Yep, we weren’t kidding.

Graham is widely recognized for playing Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, along with its revival miniseries, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. However, it wasn’t her only visit to the small screen. Not only did she appear on Parenthood for six seasons, but she also has several other noteworthy acting credits, including Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Odd Couple, Web Therapy, NewsRadio, Law & Order, Seinfeld and Caroline in the City.
