Lady Gaga's Stunning Inauguration Performance and Ensemble Were All the Things We Love About Her

There’s no denying that today’s inauguration of President Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States and Kamala Harris as the VP was one for the books. Of course, when we heard that Lady Gaga was performing during the ceremony in Washington D.C., we were totally thrilled. And the Chromatica singer did not disappoint.

At around 11:40 a.m., the AHS actress, accompanied by the U.S. Marine Band, performed the national anthem. And while her vocals were more than impressive, it was her ensemble that really caught our attention.

It's clear she was going for the gold with her look. The singer donned a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture ensemble featuring a black long sleeve top, a giant gold bird broach, as well as a red layered princess skirt. She topped off her look with a braided gold and black hairpiece. Oh, and did we mention her earpiece was even gold? We love the commitment.

Ahead of the performance, the 34-year-old artist confirmed she had landed in the city on Instagram with a photo of herself praying inside the Capitol building. She also shared a heartfelt message in preparation for the occasion. “I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans. A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear,” she captioned a photo of herself wearing an all-white look in the Capitol rotunda (likely for a rehearsal).

Last week, Gaga, who has a long-running relationship with Biden and was regularly seen on the campaign trail, shared that she was “honored" to perform at the Inaugural celebrations.

“I am deeply honored to be joining @BidenInaugural on January 20 to sing the National Anthem and celebrate the historic inauguration of @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris!”

Way to go, Gaga. We won’t be forgetting this moment (or headpiece).
