King Charles & Queen Camilla Announce Major Trip to End Their Summer Break

Just because King Charles and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, are spending their summer at Balmoral Castle doesn’t mean they’re totally cut off from official duties. In fact, the king, 74, and the queen, 76, are already planning their next trip.

Today, the royal family announced that King Charles and the Queen Consort will end their “summer break” hiatus in September. They will travel to France—Paris and Bordeaux, specifically—where they will learn more about the country and its long-standing relationship with the U.K.

The fam shared the exciting news on their official Instagram account, where they posted a photo of King Charles and Queen Camilla. The caption read, “Their Majesties will visit Paris and Bordeaux from Wednesday 20th to Friday 22nd September, celebrating the shared history, culture and values of the United Kingdom and France. Visit our stories to read the announcement in full.”

According to the royal family’s official website, the upcoming trip will mark King Charles’s 35th visit in France. On the other hand, Bowles has traveled to the country eight times for official outings.

King Charles and the Queen Consort are currently residing at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. His Majesty is following in Queen Elizabeth’s footsteps because the late monarch also spent her summers at the royal residence. Although King Charles and Queen Camilla are taking a break from official duties, we predicted the royal couple would take a trip eventually.

Royally Obsessed podcast host Rachel Bowie shared details about their summer itinerary. “As for how they'll spend their time, there’s typically a lot of grouse shooting, picnics and countryside walks,” she told PureWow. “That said, we should see the king and queen pop up from time to time for public engagements—for example, Charles is expected to attend the Highland Games in Caithness on August 5 and the Braemar Games in early September, too.”

Let the countdown to Paris begin.
