Apparently, it doesn’t matter if your mom is one of the most famous TV personalities in the country, she’s still, like, so embarrassing. (Hey, we feel your pain, mama.)
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, TV host and actress Kelly Ripa revealed that a recent #TBT photo got her into a whole lot of trouble with her 16-year-old daughter, Lola.
“I'm never allowed to post a photo of her—ever. Why did I have these kids if not to exploit them on social media?” Ripa joked.
But the Live with Kelly and Ryan cohost reasoned that her daughter couldn’t possibly get upset over a photo from eight years ago, so she put an old Halloween family pic up on Instagram.
Cue Lola calling her mom right before the Tonight Show appearance and demanding that she remove the photo. “She’s like, ‘You take it down right now! My friends follow you for some reason and they will see this!’” Ripa said.
“I was like, ‘You know what? I will take it down. I’ll take it down for you.’ And that was the end of the discussion. She didn’t say, ‘Where are you going? What are you doing?’’ A teenager making demands and not showing the tiniest bit of interest in her mom’s life? Yep, sounds about right.
That’s when Ripa got her revenge. She did indeed “take it down from Instagram” like she said she would. But then she proceeded to show it to the millions of people watching The Tonight Show. Mic drop.
(But come on, Lola—your costume was adorable.)
