Kate Middleton & Prince William Playing with the Irish President’s Dog Is Giving Us Meghan & Harry Déjà Vu

Kate Middleton and Prince William are getting friendly with the president of Ireland's Bernese mountain dog.

The royal couple is currently in the midst of a packed three-day tour that includes visits to the capital of Dublin, County Meath, County Kildare and Galway.

Today, the royal couple stopped to see the President Michael D. Higgins of Ireland and his wife Sabina. However, they also spent some time getting to know the president’s dog, Brod—and the pics are so sweet.

This isn’t the first time Brod has been in the presence of British royals. In 2018, he (along with the president’s dog Sioda) met William’s brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their visit to Ireland as newlyweds. Unfortunately, Sioda was unable to greet the duke and duchess this time, due to a paw injury.

William and Kate are known animal lovers and are even dog parents to Lupo, an English Cocker Spaniel.

Earlier in the day, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped off the plane in Dublin dressed in head-to-toe green in honor of the Emerald Isle, including a floral dress by Alessandra Rich under a Catherine Walker coat. She topped off her look with matching accessories—a suede clutch from L.K.Bennett, Emmy London Rebecca pumps and a headband, of course. The duke was right alongside her also looking festive in a green tie.

If we were meeting the President of Ireland’s pup, we’d dress our best, too.
