According to Hello! magazine, Middleton purposely left the rings at home out of respect for the venue. Since she was visiting a children’s ward, it’s common courtesy to remove any potential hygiene hazards, including large rings.
During the engagement, Middleton attended a creative workshop run by the National Portrait Gallery’s Hospital Programme. The royal mom of three wore a bespoke Dolce & Gabbana skirt suit, which she paired with black tights and her go-to Gianvito Rossi pumps.
This isn’t the first time Middleton has removed her rings for a royal engagement. Back in January 2018, the duchess visited the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity wearing only her wedding band.
Middleton received her 12-carat sapphire engagement ring when Prince William popped the question back in 2010. A few years later, the Duke of Cambridge gave her an eternity ring by Annoushka to celebrate the arrival of their first child, Prince George.
It all makes sense now.
