Queen Elizabeth Just Turned 93, and Kate Middleton Got Her…a Curtsy
ICYMI, Sunday was Easter, and the British royal family was ready for the occasion. Kate Middleton, Prince William, Prince Harry and the gang stepped out in shades of pastel for an Easter church service. Everyone was there (except Meghan Markle), even the queen.
Onlookers were quick to spot Kate’s impeccable curtsy to Queen Elizabeth as she passed by into the church—not a big deal, as Kate’s a protocol pro by now. But it was just an Easter curtsy…it was also a happy-93rd-birthday curtsy.
Yep, Sunday was also Queen Elizabeth’s 93rd (ninety-third!!!) birthday. To commemorate the occasion, the royal family social media accounts posted tribute videos, pictures and messages
While we’ve never asked for a curtsy for our birthday, we have a feeling Elizabeth really appreciated Kate’s. It’s not that she’s not Instagram-savvy—she’s just 93 and has a lot to do besides scroll through the ’Gram, you know? To perform a curtsy, according to royal etiquette expert Myka Meier, you place one foot behind the other and bend at the knees while also slightly bowing your head. The deeper and longer the curtsy, the more formal and respectful.
Kate, you nailed it.
