Kate Middleton Teases Upcoming Project with New Instagram Video and Rare Open Letter

It didn't take us long to realize who was sitting out of frame in the latest royal family Instagram video.

A new clip was posted to the Prince and Princess of Wales's official account, and it showed a pair of hands thumbing through a photo book. Of course, we immediately spotted that dazzling blue engagement ring on the left hand and deduced that it was none other than Kate Middleton (wearing the famous sparkler that once belonged to Princess Diana).

Princess Catherine graced us with her finely-manicured hands to tease a new project that is part of her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. Check out the video below.

The caption of the post read, “Our early childhood shapes the rest of our lives. #ShapingUs - coming soon with The Centre for Early Childhood.”

This was all the detail the Princess of Wales provided in her caption, and the featured video was equally mysterious. In the clip, we see her flipping through a book that's filled with photos of families, children and more. On the first page, we see her write: “What shapes us?” Then, at the end, we see her lift up an image of a young girl and underneath, it says, “Our early childhood shapes the adults we become.”

After sharing this post, the Princess of Wales published a letter on the Centre for Early Childhood website, where she went into further detail.

Here, she wrote, “This week, I am delighted to reveal, The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood will launch a major new awareness raising campaign, highlighting the critical importance the first five years of our lives have on shaping the adults we become.” She added, “...as a society, we currently spend much more of our time and energy on later life. I am absolutely determined that this long-term campaign is going to change that.”

Princess Catherine shared a similar sentiment late last year, when she posted an op-ed in The Telegraph that highlighted her interest in the first five years of life. “If we are going to tackle the sorts of complex challenges we face today like homelessness, violence and addiction, which are so often underpinned by poverty and poor mental health, we have to fully appreciate those most preventative years and do everything we can to nurture our children and those who care for them,” the royal wrote.

We can't wait to see what else Princess Catherine and the foundation have in store.
