Kate Bosworth’s Latest Look Proves Neon Absolutely Can Look Dressy

When we think of neon, highlighters, '80s aerobics attire and “Open” signs come to mind. And while we've dabbled a bit with some fun summer makeup trends (when we're feeling brave), we have not once considered neon and evening wear a classic combo…until we saw Kate Bosworth's recent getup.

The actress, producer and fashion world darling stepped out in a form-fitting cocktail dress by Hervé Leger in a shade that can only be described as highlighter yellow. But rather than feel harsh, aggressive or blindingly bright, the neon tulle pleated and ruched over a clean white base felt as refreshing as an ice-cold lemon sorbet on a hot summer day.

Bosworth accessorized with simple strappy gold heels and a bronze box clutch, along with gold jewelry by Missoma. In fact, the occasion for which Bosworth wore her fashion-blazing neon number was to host a fancy luncheon for the launch of the women-led brand's latest collection, Momposina. So it turns out super-bright hues can in fact be worn outside of music festival raves.

Bosworth's exact Hervé Leger dress has yet to hit stores, although a similar all-yellow version is currently available online for $1,090. And if spending four digits on trendy summer frock (however gorgeous and attention-grabbing it may be) isn't quote your cup of tea, we've tracked down a few looks for less below.
