During Sunday night’s episode of This Is Us, NBC finally revealed the cause of Jack Pearson’s death: complications from smoke inhalation. While some fans simply voiced their opinions on social media, others went for a less conventional approach and took advantage of Wikipedia’s self-edit capabilities.

It all began when one user pointed out the minor—yet meaningful—change she noticed on Wikipedia’s “Smoke Inhalation” page.

Although Wikipedia immediately removed the tribute to Jack, the fad had already caught on.

One user warned about the dangers of saving family pets…

While others took, um, a more dramatic approach.
