The ‘Game of Thrones’ Documentary Reveals Kit Harington’s Reaction to Reading His Final Scene with Daenerys

*Warning: Spoilers ahead*

There are many things that surprised us about Game of Thrones season eight. There was the Battle of Winterfell when Arya killed the Night King, Daenerys going crazy and then of course, the finale (*breathes deeply*). Well, it turns out we weren’t the only ones flabbergasted by Jon Snow (Kit Harington) killing his beloved Dany (Emilia Clarke).

As the two-hour HBO GoT documentary, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, revealed, Harington was also shocked by Dany’s demise. In a clip from the doc, the cast sits at a table read for the finale. Typically, actors read the scripts on their own before a table read, but it appears the 32-year-old GoT star didn’t get a chance to do so. As you’ll see below, his reaction was priceless.

In the background, a producer can be heard reading, “We see Jon with his hand still on the hilt of the dagger he just lodged into Dany’s heart.” While he listens, Harington runs his hands through his hair in shock then gazes across the table at Clarke with tears in his eyes and his hand over his mouth. He even pushes back his roll-y chair to further dramatize the moment. His 32-year-old co-star simply nods her head knowingly while the rest of the cast laughs.

The producer serving as narrator goes on to read, “Her strength leaves her, and she collapses to the marble. He keeps her in his arms, and he falls, kneeling down on the floor beside her.” Clarke, now playing along, slides down in her chair with a funny look on her face. Meanwhile, Harington’s waterworks intensify as the producer reads, “End of Game of Thrones.”

That was basically our exact reaction, Kit. No hard feelings though…we guess.
