The ‘Game of Thrones’ Cast Filmed an Alternate Ending, According to Tormund

We have good and bad news, Game of Thrones fans. The good news is Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) just confirmed that the cast filmed an alternate ending for season eight. As for the bad news, we’ll probably never get to see it.

It all started earlier this week when Hivju sat down for an interview with the U.K.’s Metro News. While discussing the popular HBO series, the 40-year-old actor revealed that they shot a different ending, though it was never supposed to make the air.

“Well, we shot an alternative ending that was mostly for fun,” he said. “But I don’t know if I’m allowed to tell you about that.” Too late, Tormund.

When pressed for details on the mystery scene, Hivju remained tightlipped about the secondary story line. “I won’t tell you!” he said before adding that “it was fun” to shoot.

The news might shock some viewers, since fans were admittedly disappointed with the final season. Still, we’re not surprised that HBO allowed the cast to film an alternate ending, since the network is notoriously famous for going above and beyond to ensure spoilers are kept at bay.

In fact, there’s a rumor going around about the season eight scripts, which reportedly self-destructed after filming was complete.

So, did HBO film the alternate scene to avoid leaks? Or simply pull at our heartstrings? We. Need. Answers.
