The 47-year-old shared an image of a wild makeover she received from her daughters, saying, "My kids did this to me. Again. From head to toe. I guess, when in doubt, be their canvas."
This is not the first time Mendes has been the blank slate for her daughters, Esmeralda (6) and Amada (4), who she shares with Ryan Gosling. Last May, Mendes showed off the avant-garde result of their makeup application. While Mendes was covered in pink and purple face paint, she said, "I’ve lost any control I once had." She followed that image a couple weeks later with a shot of even more colorful scribbles on her face, simply declaring, "They’ve won."
The Hitch star has been taking a much-needed break from acting since her appearance in Lost River in 2014, and she's been using that time to spend with her kids.
When a fan commented on one of her posts in January of 2020, asking when she would make an appearance in more films, Mendes responded, "When there’s something worthwhile to be apart of. As a mother now, there are many roles I won’t do. There are many subject matters that I don’t want to be involved with, so it limits my choices and I’m fine with that. I have to set an example for my girls now." However, she reassured fans that she wouldn't completely disappear, saying, "But no worry, I got some side hustles. Ha! Thanks for asking."
While the couple likes to keep the details of their daughters' lives under wraps, Mendes told Oprah Magazine, "We definitely encourage the arts. There’s crayons in every room and there’s always paper available so that they can create. I just think it’s so beautiful that children are natural creators, and they are, too. They just want to make stuff, which is so cool. I’m just really into that phase right now."
They definitely have a couple of artists on their hands.
