Ring for Carson! A 'Downton Abbey Live!' Special from PBS Is Coming So Soon

Unlike the stiff-upper-lipped Lady Mary, we're having trouble containing our excitement over the Downton Abbey movie, due out on September 20. PBS must feel our pain, because the network decided to give us a Downton Abbey special, to be aired live from New York City on August 18 at 9 p.m. on PBS.

ABC News’s Deborah Roberts will host the event, appropriately named Downton Abbey Live!. The special will feature Q&As with the cast, brand-new clips from the movie and a nostalgic look back at the TV series and the most memorable moments from all six seasons (so don't forget the Kleenex).

The preview above teases the special (and the first three seconds of the video teaser is Not. To. Be. Missed.—Jullian Fellowes, we couldn't have said it better ourselves!). Cast appearances will include Phyllis Logan (Mrs. Hughes), Lesley Nicol (Mrs. Patmore), Kevin Doyle (Molesley) and Harry Hadden-Paton (Bertie). While they can't be there in person, Elizabeth McGovern (Cora Crawley), Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley) and Fellowes (show creator, writer and executive producer) will all Skype in for live remote interviews.

If you live in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or Pennsylvania, you can also enter to win tickets to the live taping in NYC. PBS's New York channel, Thirteen, is giving away 15 pairs of tickets to attend Downton Abbey Live! on August 18., but you have to apply ASAP. The contest closes on Saturday, August 10 at 11:59pm.

Or, you can enjoy the special on your local PBS station with scones and tea from the comfort of your Queen Anne sofa. Either option is Dowager Countess–approved.

Now, where's that butler when you need him? We need to pack our trunks and book a carriage to the Big Apple!
