‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’ Debuts Teaser Trailer & It Looks Like We're Getting a Crawley Wedding

Focus Features just keeps on giving. Less than one week after the company dropped first-look photos for the Downton Abbey sequel film, Downton Abbey: A New Era, we already have a teaser trailer and there’s a lot to unpack.

The one-minute clip, which was released on Monday, gives fans a glimpse of the Crawley family who is headed to France. “Years ago, before you were born, I met a man, and now I've come into the possession of a villa in the south of France,” Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith) says in the video.

The teaser also features footage of a wedding, boating on a yacht, lavish garden parties and, of course, tennis matches. Watch the trailer below.

ICYMI, the first film followed a royal visit to the Crawley family and Downton staff from the King and Queen of England and ended with a ball fit for the royal family. The original cast will be returning for the sequel, along with a few new faces including Hugh Dancy (Hannibal), Haddock (White Lines), Nathalie Baye (Catch Me if You Can) and Dominic West (The Wire).

Julian Fellowes (who created the TV show) once again penned the script while Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge returned to produce. Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) directed the film, which is set for a theaters-only release date of March 18, 2022.

Good to see the whole gang back together doing what they do best.
