While most of us watched in horror as Charlie Pace (Dominic Monaghan) drowned to death in the third season of Lost, the actor was cool as a cucumber.

Here’s what you need to know: In season three, episode 23 of the ABC series, titled “Through the Looking Glass,” Charlie drowns while trying to warn his fellow castaways. In a recent interview with People, Monaghan discussed his character’s memorable departure and revealed that the ambiance on set was far less dramatic than it was on screen.
