“The one where Monica goes home.”
That’s exactly what happened Wednesday, when Courteney Cox, aka Monica Geller, paid a visit to her old Friends apartment. And it’s a good thing she documented it on Instagram, because we needed this trip down memory lane.
“Goodnight guys, I’m going home,” says Cox in a video of herself heading toward the apartment. “The One Where My Rent Went Up $12,000. #friends #mollymcnearney #missthosedays,” she captioned the post.
Even though the show was filmed at a studio in Los Angeles, the apartment (located on the corner of Bedford Street and Grove Street in New York City’s West Village) was used for exterior shots of the building the gang lived in.
And it seems Cox has her friend Jennifer Aniston to thank for the popularity of her video. On a visit to Busy Philipps’s late-night TV show, Busy Tonight, the 54-year-old actress revealed that Aniston was actually the one who encouraged her to post it.
“She’s like, ‘Post that now and see what happens,’ because she’s not on Instagram yet. I’m thinking to myself, it’s probably better to post this between 9 and 12 because that’s where my fans are. But I didn’t, I posted it late at night and it’s still [getting a lot of coverage].” Now all we need is Rachel Green to join Instagram.
