In the midst of historic protests against racism and police brutality following the murder of George Floyd, CNN and Sesame Street are coming together to speak with children and their families about racism.
The televised special, Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism, A CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall for Kids and Families, is set to air this Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. ET.
Running about an hour long, the program will focus on the recent nationwide protests and how to teach children to embrace diversity. According to CNN, Big Bird will join the station’s commentator Van Jones and anchor Erica Hill to moderate the event. Families are encouraged to write in their questions and comments, which will be addressed during the special. Elmo, Abby Cadabby and Rosita are also set to make an appearance.
This isn’t the first town hall the two organizations have done together. Back in April, they also hosted an event to help parents speak to their kids about the coronavirus pandemic.
