‘And Just Like That’ Star Chris Noth Reveals Why Carrie Didn't Call 911 in That Shocking Premiere

If you've yet to see the first episode of And Just Like That..., then you might want to look away. But if you have, you'll be interested to know that Chris Noth has some thoughts about that shocking twist.

Just to recap the first episode, Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) husband, Mr. Big (Noth), suddenly dies of a heart attack after an intense workout on his Peloton bike. And in the heartbreaking scene, Carrie comes home and cradles him right before he passes away. But while the poignant moment left many viewers emotional (us included), it made some fans raise an eyebrow and ask: Why didn't Carrie call 911 right away? Couldn't this have been avoided?

Well, allow Noth to explain.

"It was very important for both of us to find a way to have that last moment together, not that she walks in and finds me dead in the bathroom. That was essential for me to come back to. And the rest is just chemistry with SJ. We've known each other a long time."

To be fair, the sight of Carrie scrambling for her cell during Big's last moments probably wouldn't have had the same impact. And as Phil Mutz and Dara Katz discussed in their new podcast, And Just Like That...a Sex and the City Reboot Podcast, Big's death means a new story and a new chapter for Carrie. According to Noth, he initially didn't like the idea of his character returning and dying, but thanks to King's execution, he finally "felt very comfortable" with this direction.

He said, "All things end, and it was time for him to go, unless we're gonna be doing Scenes From a Marriage, Sex and the City style. There was nowhere to go with it but six feet under." Fair point.

Here's hoping Carrie will find happiness in her new chapter.
