Carrie Underwood Says This Is the Best Part of Having a Newborn

Carrie Underwood's favorite thing about being the mom of a newborn is extremely relatable.

The country superstar, who has two sons with husband Mike Fischer—4-year-old Isaiah and 5-month-old Jacob—opened up about motherhood to E! ahead of the 2019 CMT Music Awards.

On Jacob, she said, "He's such a smiley baby,"  adding that her favorite part of having an infant is, "His snuggles. I just like to smell him—that might be weird. Sometimes, I'm like, 'I just need to smell my baby.' He's getting a little chub—like little chubby legs. Just pinching at his chub is real sweet."

Underwood has also been frank about struggling to get back to her pre-baby shape after giving birth to Jacob in January.

Back in March, the 36-year-old singer shared a gym selfie on Instagram and explained that she was having a hard time finding motivation to work out. She wrote, “I’m going to be honest, ‘bouncing back’ after having Jacob has been much more difficult than after I had Isaiah and I’ve been pretty hard on myself lately.” She went on to explain how she’s changing her mindset, adding, “As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it can’t. I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal.”

The CMT Music Awards was a big night for Underwood, who took home two trophies—one for Video of the Year for "Cry Pretty" and one for Female Video of the Year for "Love Wins."

How did she plan to celebrate? Sleep. "I'm up, you know, one to three times a night with a 4-month-old," she told E!. "So, I'm hoping he gives me some sleep tonight."

See? Relatable.
