Camilla Parker Bowles Gets Her First British ‘Vogue’ Photoshoot Ahead of Her 75th Birthday

As a British royal, we would assume that you have to get used to life in front of the spotlight. However, while these royals are probably accustomed to people taking pictures of them, Camilla Parker Bowles experienced a brand-new kind of photo op earlier this month, when she posed for her first ever shoot with British Vogue.

Ahead of her 75th birthday on July 17, the Duchess of Cornwall spoke with the fashion mag about a variety of different topics, from her go-to closet pieces to her philanthropic endeavors.

One of the photos, taken by Jamie Hawkesworth, was shared to the British Vogue Instagram account, where they said, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall, who will shortly celebrate her 75th birthday, talks candidly to Vogue’s @GilesHattersley in her first in-depth profile for some years, about what life has taught her, her beloved book club (@DuchessOfCornwallsReadingRoom), and the causes that matter to her most.”

The photos of Bowles were taken in the home she shares with Prince Charles, Clarence House, and the duchess looks quite comfortable as she surrounds herself with the things she loves for all the snaps, including holding a book for one shot and posing in her gardens for another.

In Hattersley's feature, he says that Bowles was “touched” to receive the invitation for the shoot. He writes, “After a life spent at the centre of the British upper classes, the last 17 as wife to the future King, the notion of sitting for her first Vogue portraits in her eighth decade tickled her.”

What a perfect early birthday gift. The full interview with the duchess can be read over at British Vogue.
