Listen up, royally obsessed fans, because there’s been a slight change in plans when it comes to the British royal family’s royal engagement schedule.

On May 22, U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak revealed in a press conference that a general election will take place on July 4, 2024. “Earlier today, I spoke with His Majesty The King to ask for the dissolution of Parliament. The King has granted this request, and we will have a general election on the 4th of July,” he told reporters, according to People

Shortly after, Buckingham Palace announced that the royal family would postpone some engagements, which “appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign,” a spokesman for the palace said.

However, the spokesman revealed that the royal family sends their “sincere apologies to any of those who may be affected as a result” of the schedule change.

While it has been confirmed that the royal fam will attend the ceremony for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings, it’s still unclear which engagements, in particular, have been affected by the shift in plans.

This election could determine if King Charles has a third prime minister following his ascension to the throne in September 2022.

According to Hello! Magazine, Sunak became the monarch’s second Prime Minister after British politician Liz Truss resigned from the position. In case you didn’t know, His Majesty and Sunak seemingly met at Buckingham following the Prince’s Trust Awards.
