Listen up, Toy Story fans: Bo Peep is returning to theaters for the first time in 20 (!) years.
Disney just confirmed that the iconic character will appear in the highly anticipated movie, Toy Story 4. The studio announced the news by sharing a teaser for her surprise return, and (*sniff, sniff*) is that a love triangle we smell?
Bo Peep’s return might come as a surprise to some fans, considering the character hasn’t been featured in a Toy Story movie since the second installment in 1999. Although she was mentioned in Toy Story 3, Disney had yet to address her absence…until now.
In a press release, Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley discussed Bo Peep’s return and confirmed that not much has changed since we last saw her in Andy’s bedroom.
“Bo’s taken control of her own destiny,” he said. “While Woody was watching Andy grow up, Bo gathered dust until she took it upon herself to head out into the world. And when Woody shows up, they can’t believe that they’ve found each other again.”
Will they pick back up where they left off? Or will someone else (cough, Buzz, cough) get in the way?
Guess we’ll have to wait until Toy Story 4 hits theaters on June 21.
