Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds Among Batch of Co-Hosts for 2022 Met Gala (& We Know the Ornate Theme)

It seems the next Met Gala is going to be just another date night for one of our favorite Hollywood couples—Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

This afternoon, the pair were announced as co-chairs for the major fashion event, alongside Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda. As the highly-anticipated fundraiser returns to its May slot, the foursome will lead the event alongside honorary co-chairs, Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri and Anna Wintour.

If it feels like the Met Gala just occurred, that's because the most recent one only took place last September, after the gala was canceled in the spring of 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To mark the return of the Met Gala, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute announced last spring that they would present a two-part exhibit, with “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” taking place last fall, while “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” is arriving on May 2.

But while we can expect to see a continuation of the American-themed ensembles that paraded up the Met steps last September, it sounds like there will be an additional theme added to the upcoming gala.

According to a tweet from New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman, this Met Gala will have quite the golden concept.

Friedman wrote, “Scoop: and the next Met Gala celeb co-chairs are…Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Honorary chairs Tom Ford, Instagram’s Adam Moressi and Anna Wintour. Theme is ‘Gilded Glamour.’ Point is: this one is going to be very dressed-up indeed.”

We couldn't think of a better theme for a former Gossip Girl character than “Gilded Glamour.” We can't wait to see what glamorous looks Lively and all the rest of the stars bring when the Met Gala occurs on May 2.
