Billy Porter better start practicing his “bibbidi-bobbidi-boo”s. The Pose star has officially signed on to play the Fairy Godmother in Sony’s upcoming live-action Cinderella film.

The 50-year-old actor confirmed the news during a panel at the 20th New Yorker Festival on Saturday, and we couldn’t think of a more perfect fit.

The film is based on an original idea from James Corden and will take a modern spin on Disney’s animated 1950 classic. The Late Late Show host is also set to produce while Kay Cannon (Blockers and Pitch Perfect) will direct and pen the script.

Porter joins an already star-studded cast, including singer Camila Cabello in the titular role. Porter, who recently won an Emmy for outstanding lead actor for his work on the hit FX show Pose, also has quite the musical background. He starred in the lead role in the Broadway musical Kinky Boots, and even took home a Tony and a Grammy for his performance. Wow.

In other casting news, it looks like Broadway veteran (and the voice of Frozens Queen Elsa) Idina Menzel is in talks to play the evil stepmother, Evelyn, according to Deadline. (We can totally see it.)

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of Cabello signing on to the project back in April, stating that the 22-year-old musician will also be heavily involved with the film’s music.

And while few other plot details have been released, we do know that the live-action fairy tale is set to shoot in London in February of next year, with the slated release date of Feb. 5, 2021.

Camila Cabello, Idina Menzel and Billy Porter? This might just be the cast of our fairy tale dreams. Now all we need is our prince...
