Sure, we can’t deny the likeness between Beyoncé and her daughter, Blue Ivy. But right when we thought the 7-year-old was starting to look more like her dad, Jay-Z, we stand corrected.
Yesterday, the “Lemonade” singer, 37, posted a side-by-side photo on Instagram that confirms Blue is taking after her mother’s looks. The pic features 7-year-old Beyoncé alongside a recent photo of Blue and, damn, the resemblance is uncanny.
The hair. The nose. The eyebrows. The bone structure. If we didn’t know any better, we’d think it was the same child…but it’s not.
Beyoncé captioned the post, “Someone made this comparison of me at age seven and Blue at age seven. My baby is growing up.”
This isn’t the first time we noticed that Blue is practically turning into her mother. In October 2017, the singer’s mom, Tina Lawson, shared a throwback photo on Instagram, featuring young Beyoncé getting her hair braided. She captioned the post, “If Beyonce[sic] don’t look like Blue on[sic] this photo!!! Getting her braids done by Toni.”
Nevertheless, can’t say we’re surprised Blue is taking after her superstar mom. Not only is she already rocking Louboutin heels (yep, you read that right), but she also isn’t afraid to wear matching mommy-and-me outfits, which—much to our delight—Beyoncé regularly documents on Instagram.
Beyoncé announced that she was expecting Blue at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards and welcomed her first child in January 2012. She and Jay-Z are also parents to 1-year-old twins, Sir and Rumi.
Like mother, like daughter.
