John David Washington’s ‘Beckett’ Is Officially the #1 Film on Netflix

Leave it to John David Washington to have one of his movies become the number one film on Netflix just three days after its release. Yup, the streaming platform dropped the new flick, Beckett, and it's already holding the top spot on the most popular movies list.

The adventure film centers around Beckett (Washington), a tourist visiting Greece who finds himself at the center of a dangerous political conspiracy. And by the looks of the trailer—which raked in almost two million views in one month—it’s packed with action, drama and suspense.

Watch the trailer below.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads: “While vacationing in Greece, American tourist Beckett becomes the target of a manhunt after a devastating accident. Forced to run for his life and desperate to get across the country to the American embassy to clear his name, tensions escalate as the authorities close in, political unrest mounts, and Beckett falls even deeper into a dangerous web of conspiracy.”

Of course, we weren’t just going to take Netflix viewers’ word for it, so we checked out the film on Rotten Tomatoes. Turns out, the Netflix original received a respectable 52 percent from critics. One critic wrote, “Beckett might seem like a run-of-the-mill man-on-the-run thriller, but like its protagonist, it evolves as it goes along - always inventive, but never implausible.”

Our Monday night just got a little more interesting.
