The One Movie You Need to See Before Watching Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s ‘A Star Is Born’

If you’re excited for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s new movie A Star Is Born to hit theaters (*raises hand*), then we have the perfect way to stoke the anticipation.

The 1976 Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristopherson version of the film is now available on Netflix, and we can’t think of a better way to pass the time until Cooper’s directorial debut.

Streisand’s iteration of A Star Is Born took home two Golden Globes and was actually a remake of two earlier versions: a 1937 film starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March and a 1954 reboot starring Judy Garland and James Mason.

Though each movie is slightly different (the newest includes original music from Lady Gaga), each take on the classic story features a girl who moves to the city to become a star and a man who helps make that happen.

For those who (somehow) don’t have Netflix, Babs’s A Star Is Born is available to rent or purchase on Amazon ($3; $10), Google Play ($3; $9) and iTunes ($3; $10) and can also be streamed on YouTube ($3).

It’s showtime.
