The Backstreet Boys Are Releasing Their First-Ever Christmas Album

It appears our holiday playlist is getting an upgrade from last year, because the Backstreet Boys are developing an all-new Christmas album.

It all started yesterday when the boy band—Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean and Brian Littrell—attended an event in honor of the Grammy Museum’s brand-new Backstreet Boys exhibit in Los Angeles. While there, Richardson announced they’re releasing their first-ever holiday album. *Drops mistletoe*

They previously gave us a taste with “It’s Christmas” in 1996 and “It’s Christmas Time Again” in 2012.

“We’ve done a song or two, but we have never done a Christmas album,” Richardson said, according to Entertainment Tonight. “We’re going to be doing a full-length Christmas album, some classics and some originals. We are working on that while on the ‘DNA World Tour.’”

If you’re confused, it’s probably because you’re thinking of *NSYNC, who released Home for Christmas in 1998. The album featured a number of hits, including “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays,” “I Guess It’s Christmas Time,” “In Love on Christmas,” “The Only Gift” and “Kiss Me at Midnight.”

Later this month, the Backstreet Boys will wrap up their Las Vegas residency, Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life. In May, they’ll kick off the “DNA World Tour” in Lisbon, Portugal, before working their way to their final stop in Newark, New Jersey, on September 15.

Backstreet’s back, all right!
