Royal Stan Anna Wintour Claps Back at Meghan Markle Haters

Anna Wintour, the famous editor-in-chief of Vogue, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, may have never actually met, but Wintour is standing up for Her Royal Highness in her latest “Go Ask Anna” video interview from the publication (probably because, just like us, she stans the royals hard).

For the video, strangers ask the famous magazine editor questions, and one asked Wintour to share her thoughts on Markle. The editor touched on British tabloid reports calling Markle "Duchess Difficult" after recent household staff changes.

“I read somewhere there were members of the royal household that were confused and upset that she woke up so early at 5 a.m. She’s a normal California girl [who] gets up early and does yoga and meditates—and also sent a lot of text messages,” she said. “I mean, what do they expect? That she was going to send messages via pigeon? So, I think she’s amazing.”

She also has a soft spot for Markles wedding dress, designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. 

“The royal wedding had the whole world watching,” she said. “I think that her choice was brilliant. It was sophisticated, it was chic, it was grown-up. It was an English designer, albeit one that was working for a French house, which in a way was a message to the world: ‘Yes, I’m from somewhere else, but I belong.’” (Yep, we have chills, too.)

She called the look “fantastic,” and we feel sorta like Andy when Miranda Priestly notices her total transformation. 

The Vogue editor-in-chief also praised Markle’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.

“I think the two young duchesses that they have in Britain, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex, are going to keep the royal family afloat, quite frankly,” she said.

Yep, Kate and Megs both have the Vogue seal of approval, and now they’re totally ready for world domination.
