Amy Schumer Says She Lies About Her Son Gene’s Age for This Reason

When it comes to questions about her son, Gene David FischerAmy Schumer is not afraid to tell the truth. That is, unless it’s about his age.

PureWow recently sat down with the Trainwreck actress to talk about her latest partnership with Hellmann’s and its first-ever Super Bowl commercial, which she’ll be starring in. The full ad, debuting during the game, is meant to inspire people to get creative in their kitchen with ingredients that might have otherwise gone to waste.

In addition to hearing all about the commercial, we had a ton of questions about baby Gene. Turns out, the 39-year-old struggles with how to answer the age question.

“He’s going to be two in May,” she said. “I feel kind of rude saying that to people because then it puts it on you to do math. If I say he’s 19 and a half months it’s like ‘shut up.’ So, I just lie. Here, ask me how old he is.”

Of course when Amy Schumer tells you to ask how old her son is you instantly do so. She replied, “11. That’s good right?”

So, how does she feel about the upcoming terrible twos? According to the comedian, she’s ready to be a mom to a toddler and already has a solid support system.

“I'm reading a book about how to help toddlers thrive. It seems really hard but I feel very good,” Schumer said. “Out of all my friends from home, I’m the last one to have a baby so, they’re good to have for advice. I’m sure it’s going to be really hard—it’s already hard. I’m almost 40 and I have a little baby and he’s the size of a 4-year-old so, physically it's a lot. It's the most joyous thing I could ever imagine nobody was lying.”

We guess Gene is two going on 11.
