Snow Ice Cream Is the Winter Treat Your Kids Have Always Wanted

snow ice cream hero

When life gives you and your screaming little, ahem, angels a snow day, make some snow ice cream. Three simple ingredients and a lot of mixing is all it takes to make the best winter treat possible—and tire everyone out for nap time.

So what exactly is snow ice cream? With the consistency of homemade ice cream, it’s basically just actual snow plus a few other mix-ins you definitely already have in your pantry. It’s best eaten immediately (with lots of fun toppings).

How do I make it? Send the kiddos out to get a big bowl of clean snow and show them how to measure out 8 cups. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 can evaporated milk (12 ounces), 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract. Pour the mixture over the snow, mix until combined and break out your favorite ice-cream scoop.
