With the holidays coming up, there's one question on everyone's mind: Will there be another COVID-19 spike this winter? According to White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Ashish Jha, as told to NPR, the short answer is yes, especially since infections have been rising in Europe.

"We are seeing this increase in Europe, and Europe tends to precede us by about four to six weeks," Jha explains to NPR. "And so it stands to reason that as we get into November, December, maybe January, we are going to see an increase in infections across much of the country." Needless to say, now is the time to stock up on masks for your children, and that starts with knowing where to buy N95 masks for kids online.

The CDC says that everyone ages 2 and older can wear masks in indoor public spaces. It also recommends universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students and visitors to K-12 schools in areas with high transmission rates.

Specifically, experts say that three-ply surgical masks, N95s, KN95s and KF94s offer the best level of protection. “When worn consistently and properly," the CDC wrote on its website, N95 respirators approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health, or NIOSH, “provide the highest level of protection from particles, including the virus that causes COVID-19.”

But it’s important to note that NIOSH only regulates products designed for adults, which means that there are technically no NIOSH-approved N95, KN95 or KF94 masks for kids. As such, we have relied on company claims and credentials to judge the below products’ effectiveness, as well as research conducted by Aaron Collins, a mechanical engineer who has tested and reviewed hundreds of masks.

So whether you want to stock up for the rest of the school year or get ahead of the potential winter spike during the holidays, here’s where to buy N95, KN95 and KF94 masks for kids online right now.

(Psst: Not sure what the difference is between all these mask options? Read up on N95s vs. KN95s here.)

1. Vida

Vida's KN95 kid's masks feature a five-layer filtration system and a 95 to 99 percent efficiency, per its website. (And according to Collins' testing, these guys scored 98.3 percent efficiency.) They're designed for kids ages 5+, with multiple colors available. And although the ear bands are not adjustable, they are made from soft material that doesn’t easily irritate. But don't just take our word for it: "These fit our kids really well, very comfortable and lightweight. No complaints from kids, so no complaints from us," one reviewer on Vida said. Oh, and did we mention each order includes a prepaid return label so that you can send your used masks back to be recycled?

Developed with 99.9 percent bacterial and viral filtration efficiency, these parrot beak-shaped, 3-ply masks are designed to stay strong for up to 50 washings, thanks to their nanofiber membrane material. Parents love the quick-dry inner and outer layers, which provide excellent filtration. While kids love the poppy colors and bright prints. I’m so grateful and can’t speak more highly of [the brand]."

3. Brave New Look

You can never go wrong with a 20-pack of Brave New Look's KN95 masks, which are designed for kids as young as 3 years old. Especially since they have a five-layer filtration system of non-woven breathable fibers so that they’ll be protected without feeling smothered. And with nine different colors to choose from, their bound to find a style they like. "These masks fit wonderfully on all three of my children," one buyer on Brave New Look adds. "My kids prefer this brand over others, resulting in multiple orders. They feel light on the face and are breathable."

4. Wellbefore

With sizes ranging from ages 2 to 12, these individually wrapped KN95 cloth masks from Wellbefore boast five layers of protection which—per Collins’ testing—have 99.1 percent filtration efficiency. They also have adjustable ear loops (a great feature for kids whose masks tend to slip off their faces). "My 4-year-old chooses this mask over his other ones, and he has no problem wearing it for our five-hour flights and hours and hours of being out and about," one reviewer on Wellbefore explains. Just a note: They're labeled as “petite,” so you may want to measure your kiddo’s size before ordering.

5. Powecom

According to Collins, these Powecom KN95's feature filtration of 97.3 percent and should arrive with an “anti-fake” label to verify authenticity. And per the expert’s testing, these guys should fit kids ages 7 to 12, although one user reported successfully putting the mask on a 3-year-old by bending the metal nose piece. One buyer also mentioned that it solved their tween's eyeglass-fogging problem: "We’ve struggled to find a decent mask that has a comfortable and snug fit for our tween...Our son uses glasses, and with this mask, he has fewer problems with fogging than with the other kids-sized medical masks. Would not hesitate to recommend!'

6. Armbrust

Remember what we said about there being no NIOSH-approved kids’ masks? That’s true, but if you're a parent, you may find it reassuring that Armbrust produces NIOSH-approved adult-sized N95 masks in the same facility that makes these kid KN95 masks. The best part is children don't mind wearing them. "I don't have to argue with my daughter to wear these masks. Comfort for kids is vital to keeping them on, [and] she has absolutely no complaints," one shopper shares.

7. Posh

Not sure what KF94 masks are? The “KF” stands for “Korean filter,” and the “94” refers to a 94 percent filtration efficacy. (It’s basically the South Korean equivalent to the N95 mask.) These individually wrapped masks from POSH feature adjustable ear loops and, per Collins’ testing, will fit kids ages 4 to 9. "While searching for masks for school, a friend suggested [this brand]. I was worried that a disposable mask wouldn’t fit our first grader. [But I'm] so glad I ordered a small amount to try! They fit perfectly," one reviewer admits.
