Denzel Washington’s New Psychological Thriller Is a Must-Watch

When we first heard that Denzel Washington had a new film coming to theaters and HBO Max, our interest was immediately piqued. But when we learned that the film’s cast also included Rami Malek and Jared Leto, we started counting down the days until its release.

Called The Little Things, the psychological thriller officially dropped on January 29—and the internet cannot stop talking about it. And while the drama, which follows a California Sheriff (Washington) who is haunted by his past, was by no means perfect, it definitely did not disappoint.

Watch the full trailer below.

The film’s official synopsis reads: “Kern County Deputy Sheriff Joe “Deke” Deacon is sent to Los Angeles for what should have been a quick evidence-gathering assignment. Instead, he becomes embroiled in the search for a killer who is terrorizing the city. Leading the hunt, L.A. Sheriff Department Sergeant Jim Baxter, impressed with Deke’s cop instincts, unofficially engages his help. But as they track the killer, Baxter is unaware that the investigation is dredging up echoes of Deke’s past, uncovering disturbing secrets that could threaten more than his case.”

Written and directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side), the star-studded cast also includes Natalie Morales (Battle of the Sexes), Terry Kinney (Mile 22), Chris Bauer (Sully), Joris Jarsky (Bad Blood), and Michael Hyatt (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).

While critics gave The Little Things fairly average reviews, we’d say this one is worth the watch even just for the performances from Washington and Malek.

We should note that the film is Rated R, so we’d recommend waiting for the kids to go to sleep before turning it on.
