'Legally Blonde 2' Costars Reese Witherspoon and Regina King Just Had the Most Heartwarming Virtual Reunion

This week in "wow, I needed that" news, Elle Woods and Grace Rossiter (otherwise known as Reese Witherspoon and Regina King) met up via video chat as part of Variety's Actors on Actors series.

In the 49-minute dual interview, the two actors asked each other questions. They reminisced about how they met (it was on the set of Legally Blonde) and discussed their recent accomplishments (Oscars and Emmys were mentioned), their motivations (for Reese, it's sharing powerful stories of real women; for King, it's being a mother), and the changing entertainment industry.

It's been almost two decades since the pair worked together on Legally Blonde 2, which was released in 2003. Both actors have since played leading roles in heavy hitters such as HBO's Big Little Lies (Witherspoon) and HBO's Watchmen (King).

While the video is totally insightful and sweet throughout, it's also fascinatingly poignant. Witherspoon gushes about what initially drew her to want to work with King, which includes her intelligence, truth and spirit. She goes on to commend King for her determination in creating space for women of color in the industry by hiring them, promoting them and putting them "in the driver's seat." Surprisingly, the interview was recorded before the protests against police brutality swept the nation, but their messages about lifting up women of color ring just as true today.

And perhaps the most relatable moment of the episode takes place in the very beginning when King, in true WFH fashion, has to remove her dog from her office for breathing so loud Witherspoon can hear it. Celebrities, they're just like us.

Watch the video above to hear the actors' full delightful and candid reunion.
