Your Weekly Horoscopes: November 17 to 23, 2019
This week, there’s a major (and much needed!) atmospheric shift. What was slow speeds up. What was wishy-washy gets to the point. And what was mysterious and scary becomes enthralling. On the 19th, planet of action, Mars, leaves Libra and returns home to Scorpio. This helps us move forward with gusto for the first time since early October. The very next day on the 20th, Mercury finally stations direct, and we say goodbye to the retrograde blues. The sun leaps into Sagittarius on the 22nd (happy birthday, archer babes!), joining lovely Venus and prosperous Jupiter in the mutable fire sign. Let’s take a lesson from the Sagittarians in our lives and move toward the winter solstice and the darkest days of the year with a bold ambition. It’s not just OK to ask the hard questions, it’s necessary.
(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that will provide further insight.)
Happy Birthday, Sagittarius! Your wild and adventurous season is under way. With the sun joining Venus and Jupiter in your sign this week, take a moment to literally count the blessings you’ve received this year—whether it’s a life-changing promotion or a “#1 Mom” mug. Your ruling planet, Jupiter (in case you forgot), is only in your sign once every 12 years, and it will be gliding into Capricorn on December 2nd. Though some things still feel annoyingly out of your control, you have grown so much. Think about yourself 12 years ago—Paris and Nicole were still friends and you wore leggings to a wedding. Throw yourself a party. Now you only wear leggings to the gym. You deserve to celebrate this growth, so do not go quietly into the next year of your life.
With Jupiter in the part of your chart that represents the unconscious (it’s been there since last November), it might feel like everyone else has grown this year while you’ve stayed the same. But don’t fret! Things have changed for you, and in a few weeks, those things will become glaringly obvious—deep conditioning your hair every week has made your mane softer and shinier, and waking up ten minutes earlier has slowly but surely made you a morning person. This week, especially on the 19th, get out of your head and engage in the reality of the world you’ve created. Oh, and get some rest while you can. Soon, life will move at a much faster pace.
We implore you to ask yourself how your community—your nuclear family, apartment floor, work buds, school cohort, mediocre adult dance team—has grown this year? As the sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd, take some time to reflect on all the wonderful people who surround you. Who passed along your résumé to a key player? Who grabbed drinks and flipped the bill after the Tinder Ghost-Gate of 2019? Who talked you down after a family crisis? Even if the holidays––and their related parties––already feel overwhelming, don’t skip them. Instead, adjust to fit in the people who make you better. There are so many people to thank and so many friendships to celebrate.
You have accomplished so much this year, Pisces! And on the 22nd with the sun entering Sagittarius, your moment in the spotlight has truly arrived. So roll out the red carpet, because the coming month is a great time to practice stepping confidently into your power. In fact, maybe it’s time to dress the part and invest in a power suit. Whether you’re overseeing a project at work, speaking on a panel or ingeniously re-jiggering the PTA’s budget, the way you take everyone’s thoughts and feelings into consideration makes you an even more graceful leader.
Are you ready to click refresh? On the 19th, your ruling planet, Mars, finally leaves indecisive Libra and takes up with bold Scorpio. This means it’s time to clear the air. Whether it’s your business partner or your husband who isn’t pulling their weight, this is the moment to have that difficult conversation instead of brushing it under the rug…again. While you should not have this talk over text or email, it is perfectly fine to write down notes and bring them with you. As the sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd, make plans to reset your mindset through meditation, journaling or something that allows you to hear your own thoughts clearly and crisply. The coming month is the time to find yourself in a place you’ve never been.
Who actually deserves your attention? Starting on the 19th and through the end of the year, your focus is on everyone else’s needs. Whether your BFF is going through a breakup, your new boyfriend is struggling at work or a client needs extra support through the holidays, be sure you are prioritizing those who matter most. Should you really be responding to emails that come in after 8 p.m.? Don’t let generosity burn you out. On the 22nd, spark some joy and splurge on something with a group: Group dinner? Sushi and sumo? Hamilton tix? Make that big purchase together!
Are you ready to get your sweat on, Gemini? Starting on the 19th and all the way through January 3rd is your power time for fitness. Commit to a routine for the next six weeks and stick to it, baby, whether it’s intense sessions with a celeb trainer or streaming Pure Barre classes straight to your living room. But working out is so much more fun with a buddy. As the sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd, channel your desire to focus on others by inviting them to the gym with you. Be someone else’s cheerleader and watch your own enthusiasm grow.
Between school obligations, holiday concerts and winter sports, there’s a lot going on for you and the people you care for these days. And beginning on the 19th through the end of the year, whether it’s literally or metaphorically speaking, it will feel like you’re the mom with the minivan channeling all of your energy carting the kids from one activity to the next. During this time, try to remember to enjoy yourself. These days of loving chaos won’t last forever! Take some time on the 22nd to buy or set up your 2020 planner. Feeling organized clears your mind and gets you ahead.
You’ve been enmeshed in trouble at home for the past month: family drama, a flooded basement or an endless apartment search. On the 19th, the conflict reaches a crossroads, and whether it’s an argument with Mom or a confrontation with your landlord, whatever comes to the surface gets resolved. On the 22nd, you are inspired to work out your frustrations at karaoke or on the dance floor. Sagittarius season is the liveliest and flirtiest time of year for you, so sing your heart out and embrace the fun.
You get your groove back this week as Mercury—your ruling planet—stations direct on the 20th and you can once again focus on all the little details. If your mind feels like it’s in overdrive, journal or go on a jog to clear your head. On the 22nd, you’re inspired to host a party at your house. Though you usually prefer nothing wilder than book club or a tame wine night with friends, you feel the urge to make this one a rager. Give in. It’s only Sagittarius season once a year, and you can clean up in the morning.
An overdue and very welcome boost to your self-esteem arrives this week, Libra, so let yourself shine! On the 19th, wear those snakeskin pants and faux fur that have been sitting in your closet and give the cute barista your phone number. What do you have to lose? As the sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd, take a moment to really appreciate your neighborhood. Say hello to your mailman and find out how he’s doing. Chat with the owners of your favorite restaurant down the block. There’s so much to explore in your own little corner of the world.
You’ve been feeling stuck in your head all month, but by the 20th, your way with words finally returns. This comes just in time for a hyped-up blind date or major presentation at work. To prepare for the occasion, relax while you rejuvenate. Try a face mask that both clears your pores and hydrates your skin. On the 22nd, carve out some time to plan your budget for 2020. Now that you’re feeling like yourself again, it’s time to set your sights on prosperity. Make it rain, baby.
