7 Los Angeles Trainers Offering Killer Free Workouts on Instagram

Sure, everyone prefers their established workout routine, but today’s social distancing and quarantining protocols have us switching things up. Luckily, some of the best fitness trainers in Los Angeles have opened up their homes and are offering free Instagram Live sessions. The classes are available for 24 hours, so if you’re staying in bed until noon these days (no judgment), you can still partake at your convenience. We’ll all get through this somehow, hopefully, a bit more toned than we started. Check the instructor’s Instagram pages for the most up-to-date scheduling.

The 5 Best Yoga Mats, According to Instructors

1. Get Your Yoga Flow On With Nick Wilder

Set and Flow may be temporarily closed, but their yoga director, Nick Wilder, is still hard at work leading you through those much-needed calming breaths. Nick goes live Monday, Wednesday and Friday at noon PST to guide followers through an hour-long yoga flow. Extra bonus? He creates Spotify playlists in advance of class that you can play along with the workout. Take this class for proof that your Savasana can feel just as good at home (or maybe even better if you’ve got your dog cozying up next to you).

2. Box And Burn With Kendall Wood

Pre-quarantine, coach Kendall Wood would whip Angelenos into shape at Rumble Boxing, but now she’s bringing her kickass workouts straight to your home. Kendall lets her followers know in advance when her weekly live workouts will be but you can also scroll her page for some quick exercises that incorporate boxing, functional movements and interval training. She often stops in between rounds to say hello to her followers who are chatting during the workout, but don’t worry—you’ll appreciate those much-needed breaks!

3. Get Lit With Taylor And Justin Norris

Fit and fierce couple Taylor and Justin Norris are owners of LIT Method and coming to you live from their West Hollywood fitness studio a.k.a. their other “home.” The rowing machines are tucked away but that same low-impact, high-intensity workout is still there for weekly LIT nights at 5:30 p.m. PST. Turn the lights down low and get ready to work your entire body. Want more? You can sign up for a free one-week trial of their On Demand platform for access to unlimited classes.

4. Jump Up With Amanda Kloots

Remember in Bridesmaids when Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph’s characters hide behind a tree watching others get personal trained? Well, no need to hide here—Amanda Kloots invites everyone to join on Instagram Live every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. PST while she trains her client Aimee Song. Amanda is founder of dance-based classes AK! Rope, AK! Dance and AK! Body so expect to see some of those elements (think: jump rope and killer tunes) incorporated in her workouts with Aimee.

5. Experience Movie Training Magic With Pieter Vodden

Pieter, the co-owner of Pharos Athletic Club in Echo Park, comes to you live almost every single day (except for Wednesdays when the account features a guest trainer) to give you a bodyweight workout that is no joke. Fans of CrossFit will feel right at home as Pieter offers pushup challenges and AMRAP (as many reps as possible) workouts that are so tough, we could only get through half of the 15-minute set. But hey, this guy trained the cast of Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman, so that’s motivation enough to keep coming back. Pieter goes live at 8 a.m. PST every day he trains except on Sundays when he’s on at 9 a.m. PST.

6. Dance, Barre And Repeat With Aubre Winters

In pre-COVID-19 days, this badass trainer taught all over town from Equinox to Studio Bandier to Health House. Now, she’s all over Instagram, bringing a variety of workouts to you at 9 a.m. PST Monday through Friday from both her personal account as well as a guest on others (this past week she was on @sayhellowellness and @olehenriksen). Aubre will post her schedule on her Stories, so make sure to follow and see what her week looks like. From dance cardio and cardio sculpt to barre and HIIT Training, there’s enough variety here to ensure you never get bored (which is pretty impressive, considering the times we live in right now).

7. Get A Ballerina Body With Sassy Gregson

Sassy is coming to you on Instagram Live three times a week from her adorable seaside cottage, complete with curious spaniel. Right now you can catch her on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 11:30 a.m. PST, bringing her ballet-inspired workout to viewers.
