You Can Stay in the Bedroom from ‘Romeo and Juliet’—But Only for One Night

What could be more romantic than spending Valentine's Day at Juliet's House—Casa di Giulietta—in Verona, Italy? Yes, as in the site where Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet made their first declaration of love to one another.

Airbnb is giving a pair of star-crossed lovers the chance to stay in Juliet’s home this holiday. And although Shakespeare didn’t specify its exact whereabouts, Casa Giulietta in the town’s center is popularly believed to be his famous heroine’s true home.

Interested romantics can try to win the one night stay by sending a letter to Juliet (via airbnb.com/juliet). The letter must reveal to Juliet and her secretaries (aka the Juliet’s Club) why they’d be the perfect guests for this once-in-a-lifetime rendezvous—minus all the tragedy.

The winning couple will stay in Juliet’s balcony bedroom in the heart of the city, outfitted with the actual bed used in Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 film adaptation of the story. Wow.

The trip also includes a romantic candlelit dinner with a cooking demonstration (hosted by the Michelin starred Italian chef Giancarlo Perbellini) and the opportunity to read and answer some of the 50,000 letters addressed to Juliet every year.

The winning applicant and their guest will also be treated to a "Romeo and Juliet" inspired tour of both the home and the city.

However, if you’re not lucky enough to snag the one-night stay, Airbnb will also have four charming experiences to book in Verona throughout February, such as enjoying a Michelin starred dinner, being one of Juliet's secretaries for a day, posing for a romantic photoshoot and taking a romantic food and wine walk

Better hurry—the contest officially opens today and closes on February 2 at 11:59 pm ET.
