Twitter Is Aflame with a Debate Over How to Write an ‘X’

It’s 2019 and the new “Laurel” or “Yanny” is here.

The latest debate captivating the internet has nothing to do with sounds or dress color (remember the great black and blue or white and gold confusion of 2015?). This time around, people are divided over the correct way to draw an “x.” Why? Well it all started when one Twitter user, @Smasey, asked how others draw the letter.

The responses quickly started flooding in and @Smasey noticed, “General consensus is that Americans do 7 & 8, while U.K. does 5 & 6. Probably how we were taught. Not sure about other countries.”

Plot twist: This editor is American and does number five. Gasp!
