The Royal Fam Just Gave Us a Rare Glimpse into the Countess of Wessex’s Impressive Kitchen (with a Fun Recipe to Boot)

Apparently, Kate Middleton, Prince William and their kids aren’t the only ones spending quarantine in the kitchen. Sophie, Countess of Wessex, just posted a video on the Royal Family’s Instagram account where she’s mixing up a baking project of her own.

The recipe on deck? Cheese and bacon scones, yum! But here’s where it gets more complicated: The Countess’s efforts were tied to Girl Guiding’s #ActYourAge campaign in the U.K.—she’s president of the org—which challenges participants to take their age and do something good with it. That means Sophie had to whip up a whopping 55 scones. No small feat.

She even jokes about the effort saying, “I’ve decided to make cheese and bacon scones, actually, which is all very well if you’re 10 years old. I’m not 10 years old. So I’ve got to make 55 cheese and bacon scones.”

Still, she takes the project in stride, filming a selfie-style video that showcases her efforts as she mixes together first the flour, then the eggs and finally the bacon and cheese. In the process, we get a glimpse of her royal kitchen, which is likely the one she shares with Prince Edward and their two children in Bagshot Park. Our favorite details? The sage green paint color, but also how pristine and clean the space looks. (It’s a tight shot, but you can still see how bright and airy her kitchen setup is.)

Thanksgiving recipe inspo? Perhaps. But here’s to more baking projects from the royals. (Remember last year when Kate and William teamed up with Mary Berry?)
