Savannah Guthrie Had the Best Response When an Online Critic Called Her Hair ‘Distracting’

Savannah Guthrie is making it clear that she doesn’t have time for online critics, especially when it comes to her hair.

On Tuesday, the Today show co-anchor responded to one Twitter user who complained about her “distracting” and “unkempt” ’do during a recent, remote broadcast from Hudson, New York.

"@SavannahGuthrie Cmon. With what they pay you, can't you afford a hair stylist? I love the natural unkempt look but it's distracting on @NBCNews national news," the tweet read.

The 48-year-old television personality, who has been filming her morning show from her family home during the current pandemic, replied, "We are all doing our own hair and makeup during the pandemic. And yes it shows!” Seriously, who needs a glam squad at a time like this?!

Fans quickly came to Guthrie's defense. One user wrote, "Women reporters and anchors do their best to look good and it never seems to be enough. It’s not easy no matter the paycheck size. Savannah works hard and looks great.”

The original critic eventually apologized for her remarks, writing, "I didn't mean to be mean. I worked in television for 32 years. I was just surprised that the makeup artists would let the hair slide on national tv for two days. You do look great. Its the hair that needs a little love. We love you in Puerto Rico!”

Back in April, the news anchor opened up about trying to do her own show prep at home. "I just pour it on and hope for the best and I'm not that good at doing my hair and makeup," she told People. "But I'm just trying to do the best I can."
