Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington Threw an Early New Year's Eve Party in Reese's Backyard (& We’re Tempted to Follow Suit)

It looks like we're not the only ones who are desperate for 2020 to be over. Little Fires Everywhere stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington decided to kick off the new year a few months early by turning their Emmys watch party into a New Year's Eve celebration and we're totally here for it.

Witherspoon, who was joined by a small group of her co-stars, hosted the socially-distanced party from her lawn and summed up everyone's feelings as she told the Emmys host, Jimmy Kimmel, "We're ready for this year to be over."

Although it was far from midnight, the ladies did their countdown while donning their festive New Year's hats and glasses. When Kimmel asked if they could just "end the year" with an impromptu celebration, Witherspoon replied, "Yeah, of course. I mean, we're Emmy-nominated television producers." Classic response.

When the countdown was done, the stars told each other that they wanted to share kisses, but due to coronavirus concerns, they figured it would be best to skip that part. After overhearing their exchange, Kimmel added, "I wish I could kiss you guys too." But of course, Washington shot him down pretty quick, saying, "No, we don't want that. Thank you!"

Both Washington and Witherspoon took to Instagram to share a few snaps from the festivities. Kerry encouraged her followers to vote while adding that she's definitely ready for 2021. Meanwhile, on her Instagram Story, Witherspoon shared a few snippets from the "New Year's Eve" celebration.

Little Fires Everywhere earned three Emmy nominations this year, including Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, and Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special. Though the Hulu series didn't have any wins, the cast still has more than enough reason to celebrate.
