Queen Elizabeth Just Made Her First Public Appearance Since the Platinum Jubilee

Queen Elizabeth just returned to her public royal duties by traveling to Scotland, marking her first in-person appearance since Jubilee weekend.

According to People, the monarch traveled to the Palace of Holyroodhouse (her residence in the Scottish capital) on an overnight royal train. The queen appeared to be all smiles as she attended the historic Ceremony of the Keys on Monday. During the ceremony, Lord Provost Robert Aldridge presented the royal with the keys to the city of Edinburgh. She was also joined by her youngest son, Prince Edward, and his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.

This appearance marks the first time the queen has been seen in public following the Jubliee celebration earlier this month. Throughout the weekend, the royal was absent from the festivities due to her ongoing mobility issues. But, she did make a surprise appearance during the closing ceremony, where she debuted a bright green ensemble.

In addition, the queen didn’t attend this year’s Royal Ascot because of her mobility issues. At the time, she released a statement that read: “While I may not have attended every event in person, my heart has been with you all; and I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family. I have been inspired by the kindness, joy and kinship that has been so evident in recent days, and I hope this renewed sense of togetherness will be felt for many years to come.”

We’re happy to have you back, Queen Elizabeth.
