And the Safest Airline in the World Is…

safest airline in the world 2019

Fun fact: Flying is actually one of the safest modes of transportation available. Nevertheless, it still causes a lot of people quite a bit of anxiety and stress. And while we can't help you make the line at security move any faster, we can provide you with the top 20 safest airlines to fly with in 2019 thanks to AirlineRatings.com.

The big winner? Qantas, the flag carrier of Australia. (Way to go, mates!)

In order to judge the airlines, AirlineRatings.com looked at each airline's crash and serious incident record, industry-leading safety initiatives, fleet age, profitability, audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies in addition to other factors. And what do you know, perhaps wisdom really does come with age, because at 98 years old, top dog Qantas is the world's oldest continuously operating airline.

Just in case you're not planning to head Down Under any time soon, the website also provided a list of the 19 airlines that ranked highest after Qantas (although they appear in no particular order).

For U.S. based companies, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, United Airlines and Virgin group (including both Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia) made the cut.

And for international flights you can rest assured you'll be flying safe with Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, EVA Air, Finnair, KLM, Lufthansa, Qatar, Scandinavian, Airline System, Singapore Airlines and Swiss.

Now, who's ready for a vacation?
